Tim Sonntag is a German artist and photographer based in Berlin. His work explores the construction and meaning of social structures, objects, and shared societal ideas. His process goes beyond the photograph itself, considering how framing and presentation shape perception.
We invited Tim to spend a night at our Hotel in Berlin and build a playlist for us. Between quiet moments and shifting light, he built a playlist that reflects both his practice and the atmosphere of the space. Read (and listen) below.
I woke up before my alarm. It happens. Still, I’m surprised every time.
The night before, I worked on an edit for a long-term project. It always excites me, but the deep thinking drains. I fell asleep with the TV on. I love this—tiny conversations in the background while I drift off. It reminds me of my parents in the early 2000s, dozing off in our living room after work. Maybe I need to talk to a therapist about that. But what can I say? I still slept amazing.
Out of bed, I made my way to the bathroom. Just on the edge of my vision, I saw something move. I was alone in this room, so I turned to look. Cause wtf was that?
There, sitting on the countertop next to the window, was a small mirror—the kind you use for putting on or taking off makeup.
As I approached, my reflection spun in uneven, dizzying circles. It almost made my stomach lurch. But it looked funny—in a good way. I moved back and forth, watching my unreal reflection shift and swirl. I liked it.
And just before heading to breakfast, one last thought lingered: „What if we fell into the mirror at Casa Camper?“
That little mirror was literally my inspiration for it all. I saw it as a kind of creative experiment—something that would shape what inspired me during the stay. It pulled me into a more surreal, more abstract headspace around my time at Casa Camper. You could see it as a quiet journey inside the room, made for drifting, for stepping out of the usual pace. A pause. Or maybe a return to something you’ve been doing forever without even thinking about it.
Hit play on the playlist. Let it happen.
